The most useful pond supplies are the filter and pond cleaners which should include a good pH measuring kit. The most important factor to keeping a pond clean and healthy is maintaining the pH between 7 and 8. Anything beyond that range and algae starts to develop, quickly taking over and making the water green, brown, cloudy and often stinky.

Pond supplies such as flocculent can be used in case algae does develop. Since algae passes through most pond filters unhindered it has to be bonded together to be cleaned. This is what flocculent does and after it is applied algae can be fished out or simply run through the filter which will catch most of it. It is harmless to plants and fish in the pond.
